Hard Fork Combinator
Author: Rubin
First introduced by IOHK, the Hard Fork Combinator is a tool that is based on the Cardano blockchain. It combines all the protocols once a hard fork has occurred in the blockchain. The hard form combinatory is primarily used to merge all the pre and post-upgrade protocols once the hard fork has occurred.
This mitigates the possibilities of any interruption including restart whatsoever. Generally, when a hard fork takes place, it becomes almost impossible to update all the nodes at the same time with new parameters. This is where a necessary downtime is required, which interrupts the blockchain for a certain period of time.
The hard form combinator discards the dilemma by allowing multiple protocols to appear as a single ledger. This ensures that all the nodes don’t need to update at the same time within the blockchain.
