Back on May 22nd, 2010, a guy from Florida used Bitcoin to pay for two pizzas. Laszlo Hanyecz, spent 10,000 BTC for 2 Papa John pizzas. The transaction was the first physical purchase made using Bitcoin. Laszlo Hanyecz posted on the crypto website forum BitcoinTalk, that he would like to exchange 10,000 BTC for 2 pizzas. Jeremy Sturdivant took on the offer and he delivered 2 Papa John pizzas to Laszlo as promised.

Later, Jeremy Sturdivant sold the 10,000 BTC at around $400 each. The amount that he paid back then is now valued at approx $400 million (February 2022). Both of them seem to be dumb for making such decisions, but no one expected that the value of BTC would increase in the upcoming years. The day of this transaction, May 22nd is celebrated annually as Bitcoin Pizza Day.
