Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT)
Author: Rubin
#Glossary
The Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) is the property of every distributed computer system that allows them to overcome the disparity while ensuring a consistent consensus. This can be achieved regardless of whether some nodes tend to disagree either by choice or sheer accident.
There are several technical solutions through which Byzantine Fault Tolerance can be achieved. One of the prime examples is Bitcoin’s proof-of-work algorithm that allows forming consensus even when two-thirds of the nodes remain loyal.
