Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP)
Author: Rubin
The Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) is the documentation used in describing the standards of the Ethereum community. These are submitted to enforce change, that is performed by any Ethereum community member.
There are several EIPs that are implemented from time to time. ‘Standard Track’ is responsible for changes that impact most of the Ethereum implementations, including changes to the network protocol. While ‘Core’ are changes that require consensus fork. It sometimes includes discussion involving non-core development changes.
Similarly ‘Networking’ includes improvements into the network protocol specifications, like devp2p (EIP8) and Ethereum subprotocol. The ‘interface’ is responsible for further improvements to client standards. Lastly, ‘Meta’ Is very similar to the Standard track EIPs, although it applies to parts other than the Ethereum protocol.
