Hash Power / Hash Rate

The combined computational power of a specific cryptocurrency network is defined as hash power/hash rate. For any mineable cryptocurrency, the operation is performed via a network of miners. Those computational powers are often denoted in the form of cryptographic hashes.

For a mining rig, the hash rate determines the number of hashes calculated per second. For different computational devices including GPUs, CPUs, and ASICs, the hash rate can greatly vary. Depending on the hash rate of a device, one can measure the profitability of the mining setup.
