India Blockchain Week: through the eyes of The Dapp List
Author: Kaushal
The world's biggest Ethereum Hackathon has come to an end!
As a start-up aiming to curate Web3 adoption, we were thrilled to be a part of India Blockchain Week. The Dapp List is proud to sponsor ETHIndia — Ethereum hackathon in Bangalore, conducted by ETHGlobal and Devfolio.
India Blockchain Week(IBW) was an enormous festival of Ethereum. Almost every major cafe, restaurant, mall, and auditorium in Bangalore held either an event or people talking about Web3. The city, known for its start-up culture, IT hub, and parks, was breathing blockchain.
This blog articulates our thoughts, experiences, and memories about India Blockchain Week.
If we wanted to summarize everything into just three words:
Amazing, Fabulous, Incredible!
Breakfast With Builders
Breakfast With Builders is a networking event hosted by The Dapp List to connect founders and builders. We hosted its inaugural event during IBW.
And it was a massive success!
We invited twenty builders and founders for the meetup. It was held at The Third Wave Coffee Roasters in Bangalore.
Everyone shared their journey, what they were hacking, and further plans and visions. We discussed the state of blockchain and cryptocurrencies in India, Web3 adoption, and a lot more!
Accompanied by the delicious breakfast and the beautiful ambiance of the cafe, the gathering went for three hours, more than we expected!
Here is the blog we wrote to summarize our experience of our first Breakfast with Builders.
ETHIndia
How can we not talk about the beast in the room, the center of attraction, the hackathon itself?
We were astounded by the amount of energy in the auditorium. We saw hackers brainstorm, discuss, and build the product while networking and attending side events.
It was incredible to see how much energy there is in the industry and how much passion people have for building the future of blockchain.
More than 2000 people from 321 cities participated in the hackathon. 459 projects were built in two days. 44% of the participants were new to Web3. A big shout-out to the organizing and management team for handling everything subtly.
Side Events
There were several side events across the whole week. These mainly were networking, catching up, or socializing events hosted by companies sponsoring IWB.
We could only attend a few. But oh my god! Those were as fabulous as the main events!
The planning and execution were impressive. The thought put behind hosting events was remarking.
Thoughts & Experiences
Our team experienced IBW in many different ways. We hosted a side event, participated in the hackathon, attended the main event, and saw many projects.
Additionally, we got to meet our team once again! Many folks joined us since our last offline meetup, so spending time together was delightful!
Here's what our team has to say about the event:
Nirbhik, the CEO of The Dapp List, recalls his memories and writes:
Being part of ETHIndia over the years & watching the builders' participation grow from 200 to ~2000 is truly blissful & emotional! Builders energy powered the entire week & no one felt the heat of bears. Truly an experience to remember & cherish.
Sahil, our design lead, learned, networked, and enjoyed a lot:
The event was fabulous. I was also able to meet and connect with some of the leading experts in the field of blockchain. Overall, it was a great opportunity to learn and network with the best in the industry.
Kunjal, who manages the development side of the platform, found many cool projects and had fun:
It was fun being there as participant. I got to know about many cool projects. This was my first hackathon after college so it's a thrill feeling of developing on the go with ticking clock in brain.
Ruhi, our newly joined content writer, found motivation during IBW:
Being a newcomer in the web3 space, India Blockchain Week has been one of my greatest motivators. It gave me a new spectrum of networking and brainstorming. Watching the brightest minds around me was one intimidating experience, and it helped me set a standard for myself in this space.
Kaushal, our other content writer, found it absolutely phenomenal and fantastic.
The knowledge I gained, people I met, experiences I had and memories I created are absolutely phenomenal. Everything was absolutely fantastic. I got the fuel needed to put more effort into my work.
Parag, the face behind our community, learned a lot about DApps, projects, and protocols:
It was an incredible experience! It was so inspiring to see what people could do n such a short time. I met many talented developers and got to learn about their products. Overall, I learned a lot about DApps, projects, and protocols as well as the motivation behind them.
End of the Beginning!
And that's a wrap of India Blockchain Week. We are as emotional as you are.
But don't feel bad about it. There would be many events happening throughout the globe. And we will cover every event that we can. Not to mention we will host more Breakfast With Builders too!
